DAEGU, South Korea, Aug. 28-- "I have nothing to say right now. I need some time."

This was Bolt's response on Sunday night after a sensational disqualification from the men's 100m final for a false start at the Daegu World Championships.

The Jamaican sprinter offered no more comment, according to a statement released by the world's athletics ruling body IAAF.

Bolt, who turned 25 on Aug. 21, immediately returned to the warm-up track beside the Daegu Stadium after he was expelled.

About the defense of his 200m world title which begins on Friday (Sept. 2), Bolt said, "How will I go? It's on Friday right? Then we'll have to see on Friday."

With the brief comments, Bolt left for the Athletes' Village by car.

The IAAF said in the statement that it was disappointed that Bolt false-started in the final of the 100m. It also said it is important to remember that a sport's credibility depends on its rules, and they must also be applied consistently and fairly for all athletes.

The current false start rule, called Rule 162.7, has been in effect since Jan. 1 2010, and all elite athletes have had the chance to adjust. In extraordinary cases, the IAAF Council has the right to make interim changes to Technical Rules, pending official approval by IAAF Congress, it said.
