BERLIN, April 30-- Youngster team Borussia Dortmund wrapped the Bundesliga title Saturday two match days ahead of season final after beating Nuremberg, as Cologne defeated its chaser Leverkusen 2-0. At the other matches, Bayern humiliated Schalke with a terrific 4-1 win. Mainz midfielder Elkin Soto donated two goals to seal the 3-0 victory within the first half against shorthanded Frankfurt. Hoffenheim gave away a neat lead to lose 1-2 within five minutes thanks to two goals by striker Cacau. Top team Dortmund utilized the second chance for the Bundesliga championship thanks to a faultless performance against 6th positioned Nuremberg. Dortmund striker Lukas Barrios opened the scoring at the 32nd minute for his side when he netted a rebound from close distance. Two minutes before break, Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski wrapped the deal when he over lobbed Nuremberg goalie. "I' m happy. It is an overwhelming feeling. This young team staged an exceptional season especially under pressure" , Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp said. Dortmund chief's executive officer Hans Joachim Watzke added: "I cannot believe it yet. If one sees it all, all this ups and downs. The club deserves it after a huge season." It is the 7th Bundesliga title in their history after nine years of a dry spell. The club defended first position since the 10th game day. Dortmund stays on 1st position with 72 points while Nuremberg stays on 6th position with 47 points. |
