——Reading the destruction of Yuanmingyuan

Old Summer Palace is the treasure of our art. The essence of architecture is known to the world as a royal garden. However, in 1860, the British and French allied forces invaded Beijing, broke into the Old Summer Palace, ransacked it, and set it on fire for three days and three nights. Now there are only a few stumps and broken stones left in the Old Summer Palace.

Reading this text, I feel very bad. Was China really so "fragile" at that time? Old Summer Palace was the Emperor 's departure palace. At that time, it was built and expanded, expanded and built. It took a lot of efforts and wealth to turn it into ashes. It was a pity. This could have been for us to watch and admire its beauty. But now, what can we see from the ruins? Can only leave the posterity endless regret and reverie.
