MADRID, Oct. 27-- Recently Promoted Granada took advantage of the postponement of this weekend's 'Clasico' between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid to move to the top of the Liga Santander for the first time in the club's history. Alvaro Vadillo's 61st minute goal was enough to give Granada a 1-0 at home to Betis to lift them onto 20 points and the margin of victory would have been greater had Ramon Azeez's shot not bounced back off the post a minute later. Granada already have as many points after 10 games this season as when they were relegated from the top flight at the end of the 2016-17 campaign. The defeat leaves Betis in the relegation zone and coach Joan Ferrer 'Rubi' is in real danger of losing his job. Celta Vigo coach Fran Escriba is also in danger of the sack after his side were beaten 1-0 at home by Real Sociedad. An 82nd minute goal from Alexander Isak just seven minutes after coming on as a substitute lifted Real Sociedad up to third, level of 19 points with FC Barcelona. Atletico Madrid can thank Jan Oblak for two big saves to keep the scores level at 0-0 before goals in each half from Saul and Alvaro Morata saw them to a 2-0 win at home to Athletic Club Bilbao. Oblak produced flying saves to deny Inigo Martinez and Raul Garcia goals which could have totally changed the complexion of the game, and put Atletico level of points with Barcelona. Sevilla also moved onto 19 points after a 2-0 win at home to Getafe thanks to second half goals from Javier Hernandez and Lucas Ocampos after former Sevilla keeper David Soria had threatened to frustrate his former club with a string of impressive saves . |
