LONDON, Oct. 27-- Liverpool remain six points clear at the top of the English Premier League after recovering from a Harry Kane goal after just 47 seconds to beat Tottenham 2-1 in a thrilling game on Sunday afternoon. Tottenham had a chance to go 2-0 up early in the second half, but Son Heung-min's shot came back off the bar and the visitors ended up paying for the miss in a game where they had less than 25 percent of possession. Jordan Henderson equalized for Liverpool in the 52nd minute and Mohamed Salah sealed the points from the penalty spot after Serge Aurier fouled Sadio Mane Manchester City had to be patient as it was 0-0 at halftime, before Raheem Sterling opened the scoring in the first minute of the second half at home to Aston Villa. David Silva and Iikay Gundogan scored further goals to give what in the end was a relatively comfortable win for Pep Guardiola's side. Nevertheless the game ended on a sour note for Guardiola as Fernandinho was sent off for a second yellow card and will be suspended for the Carabao Cup game against Southampton on Tuesday. Christian Pulisic celebrated his first start since August with a hat-trick as an improving Chelsea cruised past a potential banana skin on their visit to Burnley. Pulisic's hat-trick and a goal from Willian put Chelsea 4-0 up by the hour before late goals from Jay Rodriguez and Dwight McNeil restored some respectability to the scoreline for the home team. |
