RABAT, Nov. 2-- Lebanese side Homenetmen claimed the 30th Arab Clubs Basketball Championship, after beating hosting side from Morocco AS Sale 99-98 in the Moroccan city of Sale on Thursday. In a tense game, Homenetmen won the title after a period of extra time that ended 18-17. The four quarters of the match ended 26-15, 17-19, 20-14 and 18-33. In the semifinal, Homenetmen booked their ticket to the final after defeating GS Petroliers of Algeria 99-78. As for the Moroccan team, they qualified after beating El Gezira of Egypt 83-76. The Egyptian team ended in the third spot after wining 98-86 against Algerian side GS Petroliers. Running since October 23, the tournament brought together 12 teams from Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Qatar, Tunisia, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. |
