The destruction of a section of the Great Wall for the purpose of constructing a factory on the site in Shaanxi Province has triggered public furor, Xinhua reported。 The demolished section of the wall located near the village of Wujialing in the city of Yulin attracted attention after an Internet user by the name of "jixuelu" wrote about her observations of the site on Sina Weibo. The post called for people to condemn the act with a photo showing a bulldozer is standing under a weathered tower on the wall。 Other Internet users demanded that people in charge of the project be held criminally liable and officials be punished。 Zhu Jianping, a private entrepreneur who leased the land from the village to build the factory in question, said the section of the wall had been damaged years before the new construction began。 He also said the project had been suspended for a month after failing to receive a construction permit from urban construction authorities。 Dai Feng, a local relic official, said that farmers took clay from the wall in the 1960s and 70s to make bricks at a local brick factory. After the brick plant went bankrupt, the village leased the land to a driving school until last year。 Dai said the relic management bureau issued a circular on Wednesday calling for the relocation of Zhu's plant。 据报道,陕西省毁坏长城在原址上修建工厂的做法引发了众怒。 |
