[娱乐] 体坛英语资讯:Quest for world record, Olympics inspires New York champ Keitany

NAIROBI, Nov. 9-- New York Marathon champion Mary Keitany says the world championships in Doha, Qatar and the Tokyo Olympics will remain in her plans.

Speaking in Nairobi on return from New York, Keitany said she is keen to add the Olympic title to her collection after she finished fourth at the 2017 London games.

However, she confirmed that competing at the world championships remains an option she is willing to consider in 2019.

Keitany will discuss with her manager about whether she will be running in the Middle East at the Worlds or if she will defend her New York title that she has won four times.

Her time of 2:22:48 was the second fastest ever run in New York.

"For now, I wish to take some time off to relax and celebrate with my family as I wait for my manager to come over the next 10 days," Keitany said on Friday in Nairobi.

Unlike previous years, the 2019 World Championship in Qatar will be in October which is just two week short of the dates for the New York Marathon.

Keitany, who holds the world record in a women-only marathon at 2:17:01, said she is familiar with the New York course and it looks similar to that she uses to train in Iten.

"For sure I have been accustomed to the New York course which is similar to where we train here in Kenya. Furthermore, I have been there since 2010 thus I can say I have vast experience on the course," she added.

Charles Koech, Keitany's husband and coach, said they still hope the 36-year-old still has the strength to challenge the all-time world record of 2:15:25 set by Britain's Paula Radcliffe in 2003.
