  Module 4

  Unit 3 Tomorrows worldⅠ.填词

APERSON 1.83 m in height would be thought tall in most company. But Chris Paul has to look up to nearly everyone in the NBA.

Howeverthe 24-year-old is one of the best point guards(控球后卫)in the league(联盟),despite the fact hes shorter than most other players. He also won a gold medal while playing for the US team at the Beijing Olympics.Paul tells his story in his bookLong ShotNever Too Small to Dream Big.

So what are the New Orleans Hornets stars secrets to success?

Paul says we need to set goals(目标).“Every year since Ive been in the NBA Ive set goals,”he said.“As a rookie(新秀),it was to be Rookie of the Yearmake the rookie All-Star game. Then be an All Starbe first-team NBA.Ive done all that stuff.”

As he achieved each goalhe improved statistically(统计数据上地)—last season he averaged 22.8 points and 11 assists(助攻).“Going into this seasonmy only goal is to win a championship,”he said.

The fact that Paul is a team player also explains his success. No one in the NBA improves his teammatesor is more interested in improving themthan Paul.He gets his teammates involved in the offense(进攻),gets them shotsand lets them take the credit for winning.“This is a guy who could lead the team to score if he wanted to.That shows the contrast(对比)between him and a guy like Kobe Bryant. As Kobes teammateyou are a spectator(观众).As Pauls teammateyou become the show,” wrote Mike Moreaua sports writer with the American magazine Hoopsworld.
