However, it does not always equal to good luck and joy in that the name of the dead used to be written in red. Using red ink to write names of Chinese people were seen as an offense. In Chinese culture, red usually symbols luckiness, longevity and happiness, therefore, red can be seen everywhere in Spring Festival and other celebrating occasions. The other reason why red is so popular in China is that it is, at times, connected with Chinese revolution and the Communist party.
