SIXTH STORY The Lapland Woman and the Finland Woman(Two) 第六个故事：拉普兰女人和芬兰女人(二) There was such a heat inside that the Finland woman herself went about almost naked. She was diminutive and dirty. 屋子里的热气很大，芬兰女人几乎是一丝不挂地住在那儿。她的身材很小，而且很脏。 She immediately loosened little Gerdas clothes, pulled off her thick gloves and boots; for otherwise the heat would have been too great--and after laying a piece of ice on the Rein deers head, read what was written on the fish-skin. 她马上把格尔达的衣服解开，把她的大手套和靴子脱下，否则格尔达就会感到太热了。她在驯鹿的头上放了一块冰，然后读了写在鳕鱼上的字。 She read it three times: she then knew it by heart; so she put the fish into the cupboard--for it might very well be eaten, and she never threw anything away. 她一连读了三遍，当她把这些字都记熟了以后，就把这鱼扔进一个汤罐里去煮，因为它是可以吃的，而且她又是一个从来不浪费任何东西的人。 Then the Reindeer related his own story first, and afterwards that of little Gerda; and the Finland woman winked her eyes, but said nothing. 驯鹿先讲了自己的故事，然后又讲了小小格尔达的故事，芬兰女人眨着她聪明的眼睛，一句话也不说。 |
