  本课您将学到:its time to do/for sth.

It all begins with engagement(订婚). Traditionally, a young man asks the father of his sweetheart for permission(许可) to marry her. If the father agrees, the man later proposes to(向求婚) her. Today many couples also receive counseling(劝告) during engagement. This prepares them for the challenges(挑战) of married life.

At last its time for the wedding. Although most weddings follow long-held traditions, theres still room for American individualism(个人主义). The couple may invite hundreds of people or just a few close friends.

At the wedding reception(宴会), the bride and groom greet their guests. Then they cut the wedding cake and feed each other a bite. Guests mingle(混合) while enjoying cake, punch(潘趣酒) and other treats. Later the bride throws her bouquet(花束) of flowers to a group of single girls. Tradition says that the one who catches the bouquet will be the next to marry.

(It all begins with engagement)在传统上,年轻人会请求他的女朋友的父亲允许他娶她,(asks the father of his sweetheart for permission to marry her)如果女方的父亲答应,之后方可向女方求婚。 (This prepares them for the challenges of married life
