Host: Should I send thank-you notes after an interview? Karen Chopra: This is one of the few hard and fast rules in the interviewing world and that is you must send thank-you notes. You must send thank-you notes to everyone that you interview with. Thank-you notes are an easy way to differentiate yourself from all of the other people who are interviewing, in fact most people don't send thank-you notes. But it is one of the things that employers will say again and again. They notice, they pay attention if they get a thank-you note and they notice when they don't get thank-you notes from people. So, please take the extra time, you've done a great job in the interview, take the extra time, sit down, draft a nice personalized thank-you and send it out usually within 24 to 48 hours after the interview. If you are one of the procrastinators out there and it's longer than that still send the thank-you note. This is definitely the time. It's better late than never. |
