Three goats live on the left side of a river. One day they want to eat the grass on the right side. There is a bridge over it. But on the bridge there is a lion. What should they do?
The first goat meets the lion. The lion shouts, “I’m going to eat you!”
The first goat says, “Don’t eat me, please. The second goat is bigger and younger than me.” So the lion lets the first goat go.
Then the second goat comes. The lion shouts, “You’re bigger. I’m going to eat you!”
The second goat say, “Don’t eat me, please. I’m smaller and older than the third goat. He’s much heavier.” The lion lets the second goat go.
The third goat comes. He is much taller and stronger. The lion shouts, “You’re bigger. I’m going to eat you!” The third goat says, “Wait a moment! Let’s have a match before you eat me.”
“What is it?” The lion asks.
The third goat says, “Let’s see who can jump higher. I can jump over the fence on the bridge.”
“Me too.”
“Show me, then!”
The lion jumps over the fence. He falls into the water.
