Hi, I’m Jason. I’m 8. I’m from the US. The 4th of July is my favourite day of the year. In America we call this day Independence Day (独立日).
People have fun and lots of families have parties. Before that day I send invitations to all my cousins. They come to our house. They like coming to my city, Atlanta, because there is a big carnival (狂欢节) here. In the morning we watch the parade (游行). We wear great costumes. There are red, white and blue balloons in the streets. Some people have picnics in the park, but we go home and we have lunch in our garden. Dad makes hamburgers and we have ice cream. We sing songs and we have fun! In the evening there are fireworks in the city. They’re amazing! All the people in our street watch the fireworks and we have a huge street party. I always love it!
And I know some other interesting festivals too. Let me tell you what people do on those days and you guess what festivals they are, OK? One, it’s a happy day for farmers. People buy fruit or some other things from farmers. Two, people often play tricks (玩笑) on friends. Three, Santa Claus comes. Four, many kids dress up in fancy costumes and visit other homes in the community for candy. Five, people eat turkey and give thanks to others. Six, people always give gifts to their fathers to show their love. Seven, people always get up very late in the morning. Eight, dogs and cats wear fun clothes. Nine, kids get colourful eggs. Ten, people wear pajamas (睡衣) at home, at school, everywhere! Ha-ha! How many festivals do you know?
